Tadalafil Dosage Options

• Tadalafil is available in four doses: 2.5mg, 5mg, 10mg, and 20mg
• Doctors typically start with a 10mg dose and may increase it to 20mg if needed

Usage Instructions for Tadalafil (10mg & 20mg)

• Take Tadalafil 10mg or 20mg approximately 30 minutes before engaging in sexual intercourse
• All doses can be taken before or after food. It is advised that the pill is more effective on an empty stomach
• This allows for an improved response during sexual activity
• Take only one tablet daily. Your doctor may adjust the dose based on effectiveness and frequency. Avoid daily use of 10mg or 20mg tablets due to prolonged effects exceeding 24 hours

Tadalafil Ingredients

Ingredients in Tadalafil Tablets:

Active Substance: Tadalafil

• 2.5 mg tablet: 2.5 mg tadalafil
• 5 mg tablet: 5 mg tadalafil
• 10 mg tablet: 10 mg tadalafil
• 20 mg tablet: 20 mg tadalafil

Other Ingredients:

• Tablet Core: Lactose monohydrate, croscarmellose sodium, hydroxypropyl cellulose, sodium lauryl sulphate, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate
• 2.5 mg and 5 mg Film-coat: Opadry Yellow 03K520010 (contains HPMC 2910/Hypromellose, titanium dioxide E171, triacetin, talc, iron oxide yellow E172, iron oxide red E172)
• 10 mg and 20 mg Film-coat: Opadry II Yellow 32K12884 (contains lactose monohydrate, HPMC 2910/Hypromellose, titanium dioxide E171, triacetin, iron oxide yellow E172)

Tadalafil Side Effects

As with all medications, there are bound to be different side effects experienced by individuals. Below we take a look at common effects through to to rare Tadalafil side effects and what to do if you experience them.

Common Side Effects of Tadalafil

The most common side effects of Tadalafil are:

• Headaches
• Flushed skin
• Back pain
• Heartburn
• Nasal congestion
• Indigestion
• Muscle pain

Easily the most common Tadalafil side effect is a mild to moderate headache. Tadalafil works by increasing blood flow, which causes blood vessels to dilate. This increased & fast change of blood flow can then extend to the brain, resulting in a potential headache. This side effect occurs at a rate of 1 in 5 users, which is considered rare.

Thereafter, the most common side effects include heartburn, nasal congestion, back pain, flushed skin, muscle pain, and indigestion. All of these effects listed have a 1 in 20 chance of users experiencing a side effect. The risks of experiencing a side effect caused by Tadalafil increase the stronger the dose that is consumed.

These side effects should pass within 48 hours of taking the ED medication. If they have not passed after 48 hours, consult with your doctor immediately.

Less Common Side Effects of Tadalafil

Although very uncommon, users may sometimes experience more serious side effects of Tadalafil. It’s important to be aware of these rare side effects to ensure that you act accordingly should you react. Rare side effects are considered to affect 1-100 and 1-1000 people.
Less common side effects include:

• Sensory problems - Users have reported bouts of dizziness, blurred vision, and ringing in their ears. Users have also reported a temporary loss of hearing and on occasion, sight.
• Pain in the heart and/or chest - if any pain is experienced in these parts of the body, call 999 immediately.
• Maintaining an erection beyond the advised period - Tadalafil doesn’t keep you hard continuously; the drug is effective because it makes it easier to maintain an erection when sexually aroused and goes down once intercourse is over. If your erection becomes painful or lasts beyond 4 hours, seek medical attention immediately. Erections maintained for this amount of time may cause permanent muscle tissue damage.

Although rare, if you experience any of the side effects mentioned above, seek medical attention immediately.

Throughout the use of Tadalafil, give yourself time to adjust to the increase in blood flow by taking at least 30 minutes before intercourse. Throughout the use of Tadalafil, make sure to keep hydrated (this is particularly useful when trying to get rid of a headache caused by the medication).

Speak to your doctor before using Tadalafil if you have any concerns.

If you experience any serious side effects, go to A&E immediately or call 999.

Tadalafil Warnings

Before taking Tadalafil tablets, discuss with your doctor or pharmacist:

• Sexual activity may strain your heart, especially if you have heart disease; inform your doctor
• For Tadalafil 5mg: Your doctor will check for prostate cancer as symptoms overlap with benign prostatic hyperplasia; Tadalafil does not treat prostate cancer
• Inform your doctor if you have sickle cell anaemia, multiple myeloma, leukaemia, penis deformity, liver or kidney problems
• Effectiveness is unknown in patients who had pelvic surgery or radical non nerve-sparing prostatectomy
• Stop Tadalafil and contact your doctor if you experience vision changes or sudden hearing loss
• Tadalafil is not for women, children, or adolescents under 18
• Discuss all medications with your doctor, especially nitrates or medicines for blood pressure
• Be cautious with alcohol, grapefruit juice; consult your doctor
• Tadalafil may affect fertility but is unlikely to lead to infertility
• Some users reported dizziness; assess your response before driving or operating machinery
• Tadalafil tablets contain lactose and sodium; inform your doctor if you have sugar intolerance

Tadalafil Drug Interactions

Discuss with your doctor or pharmacist if any of the following points apply to you:

• Inform your healthcare provider if using:
• Alpha-blockers (for blood pressure or urinary issues linked to benign prostatic hyperplasia)
• Other blood pressure medications
• Riociguat
• 5-alpha reductase inhibitors (for benign prostatic hyperplasia)
• Medicines like ketoconazole or protease inhibitors (for fungal infections, AIDS/HIV)
• Anticonvulsant medications (phenobarbital, phenytoin, carbamazepine).
• Rifampicin, erythromycin, clarithromycin, or itraconazole
• Other erectile dysfunction treatments

• Avoid Tadalafil tablets if already taking nitrates
• Use alcohol cautiously; grapefruit juice may affect Tadalafil's effectiveness; consult your doctor
• Tadalafil's effects on fertility are unlikely to cause infertility
• Some users reported dizziness; assess your response before operating machinery or driving
• Tadalafil tablets contain lactose and sodium; consult your doctor if you have sugar intolerance. The medicine is essentially 'sodium-free.'
