Overview
Haemorrhoid Suppositories
Suppositories are small, solid treatments inserted into the rectum, where they dissolve and deliver active ingredients directly to the affected area. They are particularly effective for treating internal haemorrhoids that cannot easily be reached with topical creams or ointments applied externally. Suppositories can reduce swelling, soothe irritation and relieve discomfort from the inside.
Cloud Pharmacy stocks haemorrhoid suppositories from Anusol and Germoloids. All products are dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy team and delivered in discreet packaging.
Who Are These Treatments For?
Suppositories are suitable for adults aged 18 and over. They may be appropriate if you are experiencing:
- Internal haemorrhoids causing discomfort, itching or a feeling of fullness inside the rectum
- Symptoms that are not fully relieved by external creams or ointments alone
- Discomfort or minor bleeding during bowel movements
Important Safety Information
- Anusol Plus HC Suppositories contain hydrocortisone and should not be used for more than seven consecutive days without medical advice
- Insert suppositories gently as directed in the patient information leaflet
- Do not use if you have an infection in the rectal area unless advised by a healthcare professional
- Tell your pharmacist if you are pregnant or breastfeeding

FAQ
How do I use a suppository?
Wash your hands before and after use. Remove the suppository from its wrapper. Gently insert the suppository, pointed end first, into the rectum. You do not need to push it in deeply - just past the sphincter muscle. Try to remain lying down for a few minutes after insertion to allow the suppository to dissolve. Full instructions are provided in the patient information leaflet.
Can I use suppositories and a cream at the same time?
Yes. Suppositories treat internal haemorrhoids while creams and ointments treat external symptoms. Using both together can provide more comprehensive relief if you have both internal and external haemorrhoids.
