Travel Sickness

Travel sickness (motion sickness) occurs when the brain receives conflicting signals from the eyes, inner ears and body about movement. It commonly affects people travelling by car, boat, plane or train, causing nausea, dizziness, sweating and sometimes vomiting. While lifestyle measures such as looking at a fixed point on the horizon, getting fresh air and avoiding reading can help, many people benefit from medication or anti-nausea wristbands for more reliable relief.

• Hyoscine (Kwells) and cinnarizine (Stugeron) can cause drowsiness. Do not drive or operate machinery if affected
• Avomine (promethazine) is a sedating antihistamine and is more likely to cause significant drowsiness
• Take travel sickness tablets before your journey for best results - check the product label for timing
• Tell your pharmacist if you have glaucoma, an enlarged prostate, liver or kidney problems, or epilepsy

Kwells Travel Sickness Tablets (Hyoscine 300mcg)

Kwells contain hyoscine hydrobromide, which works by blocking the signals from the inner ear that cause nausea. They dissolve on the tongue and begin working within 20 to 30 minutes. Suitable for adults and children aged 10 and over.

Kwells Kids Travel Sickness Tablets (Hyoscine 150mcg)

A lower-strength version of Kwells specifically formulated for children. Suitable for children aged 4 and over.

Stugeron 15mg Tablets (Cinnarizine)

Stugeron contains cinnarizine, an antihistamine that reduces the sensitivity of the inner ear to motion. It is taken two hours before travel and can be repeated every eight hours during the journey. Suitable for adults and children aged 5 and over.

Avomine 25mg Tablets (Promethazine)

Avomine is a sedating antihistamine that prevents and treats travel sickness. It is longer-acting than Kwells or Stugeron but is more likely to cause drowsiness. Taken the night before or one to two hours before travel. Available in packs of 10 and 28.

Sea-Band Travel Sickness Wristbands (Adults and Children)

Sea-Bands are drug-free, reusable wristbands that apply pressure to the Nei-Kuan acupressure point on the inner wrist. They are a non-medicated option for people who prefer to avoid tablets or who cannot take anti-sickness medication. Available in adult and child sizes.
