Who Are These Products For?
First aid products are suitable for adults and, in most cases, children. They may be appropriate for managing:
- Minor cuts, grazes and abrasions
- Small burns and scalds
- Insect bites and stings
- Minor bruises and swelling
- Wounds requiring a sterile dressing or tape
For deep cuts, large burns, wounds that will not stop bleeding, suspected fractures, animal bites, or any injury involving the head, chest or abdomen, seek urgent medical attention at A&E or call 999.
Important Safety Information
- Clean all wounds with clean water before applying antiseptics or dressings - this reduces the risk of infection
- Do not apply antiseptic cream to deep or puncture wounds - these should be assessed by a healthcare professional
- For burns, cool the area under cool running water for at least 20 minutes - do not apply ice, butter or adhesive dressings directly to burns
- Check wound dressings regularly and change them if they become wet, dirty or loose
- Seek medical advice if a wound shows signs of infection: increasing redness, warmth, swelling, pus, or red streaks spreading from the wound
Available Product Types
Antiseptic Creams and Sprays
Antiseptic products help prevent infection in minor cuts, grazes and insect bites. Savlon and Germolene are well-known antiseptic brands offering creams and sprays. They work by killing bacteria on the skin's surface around the wound. Apply to clean, dry skin after washing the wound thoroughly with water.
Burns Treatments
Acriflex Antiseptic Burns Cream provides soothing relief for minor burns and scalds. It contains chlorhexidine to help prevent infection. For minor burns, cool the area under running water first, then apply the cream once the skin has dried gently.
Wound Care and Dressings
Micropore surgical tape is a hypoallergenic, breathable tape used to secure dressings in place. It is gentle on the skin and suitable for people with sensitive skin. Activon Manuka Honey Tube provides medical-grade manuka honey for wound management. Manuka honey has natural antibacterial properties and supports the healing environment of minor wounds.

FAQ
Should I cover a cut or leave it open to the air?
For most minor cuts, keeping the wound covered with a clean dressing helps protect it from bacteria and reduces the risk of infection. Change the dressing daily or if it becomes wet or dirty. Very minor scratches may be left uncovered once bleeding has stopped and the wound is clean.
How do I treat a minor burn at home?
Cool the burn under cool (not cold) running water for at least 20 minutes. Do not apply ice, butter, toothpaste or adhesive dressings directly to the burn. Once cooled, cover with cling film or a clean, non-fluffy dressing. Apply a burn cream if the skin is not broken. If the burn is larger than the size of the person's hand, blistered, deep, or on the face, hands, feet or joints, seek medical attention.
When should I see a doctor about a wound?
Seek medical attention if the wound is deep or gaping, will not stop bleeding after 10 minutes of pressure, was caused by a dirty or rusty object, shows signs of infection, or is a bite from an animal or human.
